Country of Origin, History of Welsh Springer Spaniels
As the name suggests, the Welsh Springer Spaniel originated in Wales. They can be traced back as early as the 13th century when they were used as hunting dogs.
They are similar to the the English springer spaniel and other hunting spaniels that originated in Britain. They were meant to hunt game by springing on it from their hiding place and then bring the game back to the hunter.
