TrainPetDog Customers Speak

Why Hasn't Anyone Told You The Truth

Are You A Proud Owner Of A Brand New Puppy? Then you'll want to hear the full, uncensored truth about how you can avoid paying up to $1,200 to train your dog and still have a perfectly housetrained, well-behaved pet that responds to your every command.

If you are eager to "housebreak" your dog because you have to put up with it making a mess - pooping, peeing around the house - digging, scratching, spilling, destroying your furniture and other unruly behaviour - here's what you need to know:

You Can Control 99% Of All These Behaviors Without The Need For A Professional Trainer!

Because while these incidents annoy you when they happen - here is the real tragedy!

Some Pro-trainers charge HUGE sums of money to train your dog. But in truth they only depend on a few simple methods to get your dog to behave perfectly. What these high-priced trainers won't tell you is that these are methods anyone can learn. Methods that may seem incredible to the average dog owner but are actually quite simple.

Otherwise, how could so many dog owners like you train their own dogs? Check it out for yourself:

...I was having problem with her listening to commands like sit, stay and come...One thing the book mentioned was how hard it would be to get her to respond to the command COME. That was so true....I was able to speak to a trainer who gave me advice on the proper way of training Abby....Abby is now listening and following most commands. I would recommend becoming a member of the Elite Dog Club. They helped me and Abby.

Good evening, I have a Husky currently. He was really fun to train. lol. I have never had a Border Collie in my family. I was just telling my boyfriend how amazing this training emails are. Everything that I have read is spot on the nose. Quinn had chosen a spot to pee and another one to void. It is truly a life saver. Ive been hesitant welcoming a brother for Boeser my Husky because of the house breaking and everything that comes with it. You have made it a breeze. Border Collies are smart but learn so differently which I had no idea about. Youve saved me from weeks or more of frustration.

I would say 5/5. The positive reinforcement is working. we need to be a little more disciplined on the putting in crate if she doesn't go on the hour. We have a small crate which she fits OK in right now, but she's quickly outgrowing it and a large crate. Need to find a medium one that will work in the interim.

I admit that I was trying to house-break Casper my dads way, the old school method of putting the dogs nose in the mess, scolding, and taking him out periodically when I noticed sniffing. However, the umbilical cord method, while definitely requires dedication - it works so well! I have held Casper on his leash for the past one and a half days and only experienced one mess, which happened when I got comfortable and let him roam free for a small bit. I estimate having to be attached to my dog for another two or three days and then he will be trained. Super exciting and I appreciate the idea! Thank you!

So far, the tips Ive received from you have been effective. Every single one. The most effective in my current situation with my 3 month old bully is every time I take him potty, I make sure I walk through the door first. That goes for every door. I make him sit down and he listens, then I proceed to open the door as he sits the entire time. I priced out of the doorway and he follows. We do the sand coming back inside or leaving whichever room we entered together. Ive used this method for just 3 days & the results are already immaculate.

Thank you for your training tips. The dog I took in last Sunday was an abused Cow Dog. Still young, I guess 1 year old. I think the tip of your umbilical chord was great. I have been using it. Though I can only stand it for 15 minutes at a time, because this dog acts like he's hyper on caffeine. He is only 4 days in my household, with another older dog, and hasn't soiled anything the last 2 days. I have to keep him a lot of times in the crate, hopefully that will become less over time. Again thank you for your free tips.

Firstly thank u so much, Tayto was waking me up every night at around 2:30 am, I would respond by angrily yelling at him to stop & he'd bark back & then my daughter would wake up at which point I'd put him outside & he'd softly cry on & off for the rest of the night... sad night for everyone would lose & be upset... I applied your principle of any attention even bad he perceives as good & that night when he barked at 2:30am, coz if Taytos one thing apparently it's punctual lol... I ignored it... he went back to sleep within half hr... happy & warm inside... thank u thank u thank u... next night he only barked twice before deciding going back to sleep would be the better option...

It made a lot of sense that any attention is attention to my dogs and so any reaction I have will encourage them to continue. I have always felt my biggest problem with training is I feel guilty, like I'm being mean when trying to train them. Housebreaking has been impossible with my pups....and I had resigned myself to the fact that they are too old to train at this point. The Bichon Frise can be a real challenge. We even talked with her Doctor and Veterinarian about the challenges and lack of success we were having with our Bichone, "FAITH". Thank you for all the tips. I have read the first two emails and found them pretty insightful. We have only had our Berner for close to 2 weeks and have already been inconsistent with his training. I am working on being more consistent as the days go by. Theo is 6 months old, stubborn, and a big clumsy oaf, but I love him to death because he is excellent with my 4 year old daughter ( who needs her own obedience training, it seems ). I also noticed that I tend to unknowingly reward bad behavior like when he jumps up. I have started to ignore him when he jumps up, and he is getting the idea. Thankfully. I look forward to reading more about Berners, and I am sure my Theo will benefit a lot from what I learned. Thank you.

I have read all emails that I have been sent. My going on to 8 month old pup has some very bad habits along with separation anxiety. Its been a hassle with trying to leave her home alone or even just leaving her in an area by herself. The emails about becoming the alpha and letting it be known to her has definitely helped a bit. The simple things like walking through the door first, and the bit about her craving attention and helping her not jump up, have also been helpful! Im learning more and more everyday to ensure she is well trained and has a good healthy, long life.

I'm enjoying reading your emails about training my baby, Faolan. I'm doing one command at a time. She's already sitting before receiving her food and I've gotten her to steer away from the cats. The next big thing I'm working on is biting (chewing). She nips and chews on me a bit, especially when I get home after work. I know shes telling me she's glad I'm home and wants to keep me from going anywhere else, but I have to stop this now. When she's grown up, it will become a problem. I've seen that she gets more stubborn when I punish her, so now I mostly go with ignoring bad behavior and rewarding good behavior. It works!!! Thank you again for all the tips!!

Ralph, as you predicted, is a jumper and, also as you predicted, I had got into the pattern of pushing him off or saying down and then petting him. Which resulted in him continuing to jump. Now turning away and waiting for him to settle with his feet on the floor is encouraging him to settle quicker. I notice he is now doing this when he approaches people outside of the home as well. So we are already making some progress.

Something that I found particularly helpful about the emails on dog training is how all behavior-positive and negative, is done for attention and that any attention-even scolding, can have the opposite effect. Thank you for the mini course. It is very insightful and I love how you specialize in specific breeds and even go into detail about their strengths and weaknesses. Not all dogs are the same just how not all breeds are the same so you cant expect them to do exactly what a different breed is a pro at. So far everything has been straight forward and makes sense. Im a dog trainer, so I love learning new techniques and information. I dont know everything, so it is nice and very exciting for me to learn new things. I know this would be harder to do, but I wish you had a course(s) on mix breeds that take after different sides of the breeds so people can learn how to find that balance to satisfy the drive and personality of that dog with multiple breeds. Thanks again for the course I am enjoying it! Thanks again,

Thank you for the emails and all the tips I got till now. I had German Shepherds all my life and boy can these two be different!! The tips are great, I used to "down" to my dog jumping and it got me nowhere and now in only two days of literally turning away and ignoring her she's already doing better! For sure, we're very much interested in your training book!

I have very positive feedback for you! I found that making a couple of small changes in my behavior has made me a better Alpha, and subsequently my Sheltie seems to be more willing to follow. I am also working on ignoring some less desirable behavior so that I can reinforce the good without giving attention to that less desirable behavior. My thanks to you for that.

Your tip on giving your dog attention at the right time is something I would of never thought about. But after having Bruno for 2 months now I will say your absolutely right. I do the exact thing. I tell Bruno down and then pet him. I definitely am aware of this now and have been doing exactly what you suggest by Turning away and then once on his feet giving bin attention. And he has been responding well. Thank you.

I thought the first 2 articles were very helpful and interesting. The thing I loved about article 1 was learning why German Shepherds tend to jump and do naughty things. I currently have a 2 year old female shepherd at home and so my family has been working on this with her big time. We are only giving her attention when she is on the ground. I found your tip about ignoring Brynn when she jumps or nips, then saying "good" when she stops. Since I implemented your tips on entering and exiting doorways first, Yogi has become more attentive to what I say and communicates on a higher level. I am so grateful for all the tips and look forward to the grooming email. In the morning when we first wake up he rolls onto his back and moves back and forth while he grunts and groans so I'll rub his belly. Yes I have been using both of your first two tips, I am having lots of success with the no jumping up, since she is small she tends to jump just to be picked up! But she is doing really really well with me turning away from her and I hear her paws drop and I wait a few, each time growing and she is actually starting to not jump! I am really considering joining the training program. Thank you,

Thank you, so much, for sending me daily training tips that I have implemented immediately. The jumping up, and putting the puppy down and then patting the puppy was an eyeopener (who knew that Tux would think he was being praised for the jumping)! Tux was well socialized by his breeder, and we brought him home at 8 weeks. I look forward to your daily teachings.

Thanks for the emails so far! They have been very helpful. Harley is very hyper and loves to jump on us on the couch and like you said, we tend to push him down and then rub him because we feel bad!! I was on my own with him yesterday and tried the ignoring him when he was jumping on me and Eventually he gave up and I didnt have to do anything except ignore him which helped with my guilt a lot! I was so relieved to see it worked so thank you!

The information about how to react when Wicket jumps up was helpful. I will certainly be putting that into practice in the future. Wicket is very loving and wants lots of affection. When our adult children come to visit she jumps up on their legs when they are sitting down and then they reward her by picking her up and petting her. She is 12 wks old today so because of her size she is everyone's lap dog. I like that she is getting good socialization from different people but it does make training her a little more difficult. I don't want to tell people they should not pet her when she is so loving. She is not at all dependent. She is happy to be petted for a little and then go on her way but she always wants to show affection when people first arrive for a visit. We have now had her for 6 weeks and are really enjoying her. Thanks for your advice.

I have now told my roommates that if she Jumps on them to not give attention until she is down and calm (she normally she does it to new people she is happy to see) and so far it has work. She has not been jumping on them but instead just waiting on the ground for them to start petting her and stuff! Ive enjoyed having those tips to use!

Here is my feedback: I really liked the way of training that you offered in the last two emails. It seems a smart way and I didn't think of it that way before. We will be trying to apply that, and also to biting with the same principle. It's really cool how they look for attention, and how you train them by gratifying their want for attention in the right times. I never thought of the fact that they are satisfied with the attention they receive when scolded, and then afterwards when they are praised for stopping their bad behavior. I also love the emails with training tips.

I feel very grateful for this instructive and helpful book about training my Shih Tzu puppy. I have also been listening to the video, which is very comprehensive about all possible conducts of a puppy and its misbehaviors. In the video, you provide many instructions to replace these misbehaviors and correct it. Of course, this guidance that you provide give every dog owner peace of mind, due to our pets will be healthier, less anxious and enjoying life: they are going to walk around without barking, socializing with other people and dogs, etc. My little pet will be also happier at home. We now understand the behaviors it does according to its age. I know it is the result of many years dedicated to improving our pet's life. Sincerely grateful.

I just want to thank you for your emails and training guides. I am absolutely amazed at how quickly he is responding. I will tell you this little story:Yesterday is his second day of training. Your tip on only reacting to the positive REALLY works. So he was just going to make a wee in the house and I clapped my hands together and said No, picked him up and took him outside and just ignored him until he made his wee...and then I made a huge fuss. Later on in the day I took him outside to see if he wanted to wee and he started playing with me and biting my feet so hard it hurt. I clapped my hands together and said NO and he stopped, looked all dejected and went to make a wee and then turned round all excited. It was so cute...he knew I wasn't happy with him so he went to wee to make me happy. It really does work, thank you so much for your help. I have a 5 year old Beagle as well and I will definitely be subscribing for your emails for my Beagle. Thank you again.

Jessie is doing well and I'm thankful for your emails and advice. She was jumping on me a lot to get attention as she's a very demanding dog. I followed your advice and turned my head the other way and sort of ignored her antics. It's working after a few tries and becoming fewer. Thank you for this.

I like your information about not scolding him due to it being just attention from a pups point of you. I also tried the put his paws down when he jumped on me and told him a firm no. Then when he sat, I praised him for doing the right thing. I also noticed him biting and I clapped my hands once loudly and he stopped and I said no to that too. It worked!!

I even had to copy the email you sent to me to the person helping me take care of May, because I'm in uni and I don't have enough time to play with her but whenever I go to check up on her I try to practice those stuffs and also play with her before I go back to school. I'll really appreciate it if you could send me more training tips that I could use to help May. Thanks...

Yes I did receive your tips and we tried out the ignoring bad behavior when she was nipping my daughter. I had my daughter turn her bad and ignore her and then Ellie just kinda stopped and looked. Then when she laid down after that to get her toy, my daughter bent down and then petted her and told her she was a good girl. I do look forward to all your tips and will probably be purchasing your program this weekend.

We read with interest your emails regarding training our beautiful Shih Tzu, Zac.He is generally a well behaved little man and adored by Yvonne & Myself but does have a little naughty streak at times!Your emails are excellent and expressed in plain English. Your words of wisdom are common sense but like a lot of dog owners we forget that our job is to make our little friends obey commands when they do not speak English and hence have to have repetitive instruction in order to get the message. We would love to get your book in order to better understand all the other aspects of dog ownership, in particular Shih Tzu grooming.

I'm very happy for this short course as I can now understand my Cane Corso better than before, I realised that my Cane Corso can understand simple words like sit, down and stay simply by just encouraging and petting him more which makes learning very easier. My Cane Corso can even give me hi five within this 72 hours of training. Cane Corso can not learn when you are hard with them, you need to be tactful when training them as he needs to be cheerful or happy while learning something. The course is very useful for me as I can now relate with my Cane Corso easily and even if it's doing something bad like biting or tearing he will understand better and be very calm by just tapping his back or rubbing his head. I'm really grateful for this course and I appreciate it so much.

We implemented your advice on jumping yesterday. My 5 year old daughter likes to play "chase" with Nala and when she is caught Nala jumps and nips. I explained your trick to my daughter and it worked the very first time she tried it which was a reward for my daughter to see that our training works. Now when I try to explain training to my daughter she is very responsive.

When he's jumping and I simply ignore his behavior, as you said, he stops within a very short amount of time. Also, praising him with just simply saying good has worked great. Thank you Nancy for the emails I have received these past two days. They have been very helpful being that this is the first time we are having a dog and don't have a single experience in having a pet. Applying your recommendations have been rewarding, especially on seeking attention at the wrong time. Out first instinct (My husband and i) has been to play with Ariana each time she jumps on us. But ignoring her and looking away when she jumps has been working. I guess it will take a while for her to settle. We will be sure to follow the training and hope we will have a well behaved lab very soon. Thank you.

This is Kim. Marlee's Mommy. I've only had a chance to read one so far but, out of all the training classes I had never heard this tip before and it is going to be very helpful. It was the one on training her to stop jumping and telling her paws on ground while taking her paws and actually putting her paws on the ground at the same time. Marlee is proving to be very smart. We have mastered sit, down, stay and currently trying to teach her to watch me, or look at my face and hand expressions when talking to her. She is also doing fairly well walking with me on her leash.Thank you for all of your wonderful tips I truly enjoy reading them and learning more ways of doing something.
